Albaston is now best known for its lovely "Welcome Tree" which dominates the centre of the hamlet.
It was the inspiration of Rosie Fierek, wife of the local potter, Rob Fierek, and is stuck onto the wall of the post office.

Local school children helped with the project, and the minerals used to colour the tree are typical of those mined in the district.
There are all sorts of things hidden amongst the branches: you really should come to see for yourself!
